  Caledon Hills Section - 4th Line Hockley Valley Road (54.9 km) to 7th Line (43.3 km) - Oct. 15, 2026.  This week Hiking With Friends was in the Hockley Valley area, hiking from 4th Line  to the 7th Line finish. We accomplished our 11.6 km hike under some cloudy skies and coolish temperatures  - fall has arrived!  Joining the hike Steve R. (HC), Barb, Grace, Andrea, Frank L., Peter, Lesley, Doug, Laura, Nancy, Catherine V. and Renu First challenge is crossing a stile onto the Blue Side-Trail access to the main trail. Into the forest to face the inevitable ups and downs of modern hiking,... Peter - reflecting on the road travelled. Doug descending another stile....in style Passing through a stand of young Maples Pausing for breath at the top of another climb Doug holding court with Frank and Peter. And we're climbing a stairway to Heaven...  Life is extremely hard as a BT blazed tree. Catherine V. getting guided by Renu on customizing head-coverings.  ...

Dufferin  Hi-Land Section #3 - Pine River - October 8, 2026, 12.46 km from the BTC Parking Area at km 28.3 on 1st Line East to Prince of Wales Road at 20 Sideroad. Nine of us hiked: Steve R. (photos), Annette(HC), Lesley, Catherine V., Grace, Doug (blog), Andrea, Josie (photos), Georgia We started west through wet cedar forest with lots of slippery moss-covered rocks, then mostly north with lots of road walking on 10 Sideroad, Centre Road, and Prince of Wales Road with periodic excursions into the bush, including a detour up and up, and yet more up, towards the end of the hike, which some BTC sadist put there. The highlight was the lovely Pine River Valley and its Provincial Fishing Area (where we stopped for elevensies). It was a lovely fall day, perfect for a walk in the woods.
