Toronto - Terra Cotta Loop - Main Trail and Terra Cotta Side Trail - September 24, 2026

  Toronto - Terra Cotta Loop - 11.4 km from the  roadside parking on  Heritage Road, south through the Terra Cotta Conservation Area to the Terra Cotta Side Trail, and back to Heritage Road. It was a glorious autumn day, cool but full sun, virtually no bugs.  A perfect day for a walk on the Bruce! 11 of us hiked, front to back and left to right, Frank L (photos), Josie (photos), Nancy, Marleen, Andrea, Peter, Laura, Frances, Annette (HC), Grace, Doug (blog). Off we went, up Heritage Road briefly, then left on the main trail, heading south into the woods ... Making sure that we turn the right way into the Terra Cotta Side Trail ... At the start of the Caledon Trailway ... ... and effortless strolling. Winter is coming! The last rocky scramble ... Back to our cars.  You can't see them in this photo, they're on the other side of the road. The End (At least for Laura and Peter, and Grace, Marleen and Doug, and Frank that is; we all left for home at this point....

Dufferin Hi-Land Section #1 - Mono Centre to HWY 89 near Primrose - September 10, 2026

  Dufferin Hi-Land #1 - September 10, 2026 - 14.43 km from Mono Centre Parking, to roadside parking on Hurontario St., just south of Hwy 89. Five of us gather to hike this lovely stage on a glorious, early-Fall morning.   Ivan (main photographer), Diane (photo), Doug (photo, HC), Faryde, Grace.  The gravel parking at the Mono Community Centre.   Off we go ... Small groups can use anything as a Bridge picture. Doug falls asleep at the Mono Cliffs lookout. Diane, who is here for the first time, inspects the cliff. Beautiful McCarston's Lake, a good-sized kettle-lake, formed by the gradual melting of an enormous, colossal, outrageous chunk of ice left behind by a retreating glacier. Diane directing traffic. Out of the woods, and into the meadows we go ...   Toronto Section - Limehouse (21.6 km) to Eighth Line (34.0 km) - September 3, 2026. Hiking With Friends knows every trick in the book when it comes to enjoying the Bruce Trail and this past week, we played our cards right and spent 4 hours exploring the reconfigured, extended route between Limehouse and Eighth Line in the Toronto Section...and I'm happy to report that it certainly trumps the previous iteration...  With a good number of our group having flown off to Scotland to enjoy the Highlands for a week, we are a smaller than usual cohort of nine for today's outing...myself, Diane, Renu, Faryde, Catherine V, Doug (H.C), Frances, Marleen, and Ivan... We quickly pass through a couple of blocks of the "House of Lime" and enter the woods off Fifth Line into the Springle BTC Protected Area...we are bidding to become the first HWF hikers to complete the new configuration in this area since it was recently rerouted, incorporating all new trail with some previous side t...
