Dufferin Hi-Land Section #4 - 20 Sideroad at Prince of Wales Road, to Lavender Cemetery at Mulmur-Nottawasaga Townline - July 23, 2026

Dufferin Hi-Land #4 - July 23, 2026 - 13.2 km from 20 Sideroad at Prince of Wales Road, to Lavender Cemetery at Mulmur-Nottawasaga Townline.   Nine of us gather on a lovely sunny morning, cool with enough breeze for us to wear layers, eager to get going ... Frank L (photos), Grace, Doug (HC & photos), Marleen, Andrea, Nancy (very welcome back after a long absence!!), Peter, Laura, Josie (photos) Off we go,  west on 20 Sideroad and  straight up its fierce climb . After climbing and climbing, we emerge into fields and full sun.  Layers are shed and glorious vistas are enjoyed. We re-enter the woods after  again crossing Prince of Wales Road and almost immediately go off-piste. Instead of crossing the small stream and climbing left up the escarpment, we follow the stream (which is quickly joined by other streams and becomes large) until we can go no further.  Josie backtracks and finds our mistake. On we go, encountering a beautiful but enigmatic box...

Dufferin Section #2 - Primrose 14.1 to 28.3 km

  Dufferin Section Hike#2 Primrose 14.1 to 28.3 km , total 14.2 km We had  17 hikers back on the trail this week to celebrate Ivan & Faryde completing the Dufferin Section.  Joining the hike were Sandra (sweep), Lesley, RonB, FrankL, Diane, Faryde, Frances, Annette, Donna, Barbara (HC), Andrea, Ivan, Peter, Laura, Georgia, Josie and SteveR. The hike was 14.2km from hwy 89 to 1st Line E and was a work out with several steep ravines. It was a hot humid day with forecast hi of 25oC and partly sunny. There were thunderstorms forecast for later in the day which we were fortunate to miss.   A shady spot for Elevenses in the forest.  It did start to rain at one point but no effort was made to put on rain gear as it was so humid!  Georgia managed to fit in a few blue trails along the way and shared the view from Murphys Side Trial.   Peninsula Section - Series #4 - Crane Lake to the Northern Cairn in Tobermory - June 23 to 25, 2026. --------------------------- Day One : Little Cove (156.4 km) to Marr Lake/Cyprus Lake (145.3 km) - June 23, 2026. Hiking With Friends concluded its World Cup of Walking the Bruce Peninsula this past week with 3 days of enjoyment in the rugged beauty in the National Park that 'bears' its name...it would conclude with a special moment that once again added to the rich tapestry of Bruce Trail memories that our group has woven over the years...Day One was unique in its own right as, due to severe parking time restrictions recently imposed at Little Cove, a creative plan was necessitated that meant our group was split in two and took on the roughly 14 km route from opposite directions...
