Niagara - February 5, 2026 - (nominally) 13km from Kinsmen Park to Glen Road It is a cold and stormy night. No! That's not right. It is a cold and sunny Thursday after the big freeze for the last 10 days.  Only eight of us hiked and we all show up early at the Glen Road parking.  Steve K demonstrates enviable suppleness putting on his icers. Shortly afterwards, here we all are at Kinsmen Park at 8:40, ready for the Off.  From left to right, Frances (photos), Andrea, Renu, Annette (photos), Barbara, Georgia, Steve K (Sweep & photos) and Doug (HC & photos). Off we go - the trail fairly comfortable.  There is a lot of snow, courtesy of the January 25-26 storm.  No ice and well trodden.  We made decent time.  An early bridge - we're not yet warm but we get the picture out of the way! Half-an-hour later and going strong - see how cheerful we are!   An hour later and the snow is getting trickier.  Not as trodden and definitely more...

Iroquoia Side Trails - Dundas Valley Loop - January 29, 2026. HWF were in the Dundas Valley this week for a 10km loop hike exploring the side trails of Canterbury Falls and Arteban Road It was a very cold start for HWF starting from the Dundas Trail Centre  We were grateful to the staff for the ploughed parking lot and for access to the Trail Center Joining the side trail hike was Barbara, Annette (HC), Grace, Donna, Doug (photo), Frances, SteveK (sweep), and SteveR (photo) The trail was snow covered and mostly compact Some sections were less travelled and the trail was slow going! It was a really cold start to the hike with no sun but we were sheltered from the chilly wind. The sun finally shone and cast long shadows in the forest. Dundas Valley has really steep uphill climbs so we were soon making clothing adjustments Arteban Road Side Trail complete! A brief stop for water and a photo.   No elevensies today as it is cold! Canterbury Falls Trail complete! Heading...

Iroquoia Section - Sherman Falls (46.6km) to Hillcrest Avenue (37.1km) - January 22, 2026. Our hike took 3 hours to meander 10 km thru this slim corridor of greenery in Hamilton. A number of waterfalls and staircases added to our enjoyment. We did not stop for elevensies. We start at Sherman Falls carpark with 9 fine  people popsicles - Lesley (H.C., photos), Francis, Steve K (photos), Andrea, Grace, Josie (photos), Annette (photos), Donna, Doug (sweep, photos).  It's a cold start to the morning, promising high winds and cooler temps thru the day, so we don't spend time looking at Sherman Falls, we quickly hike, arriving at Tiffany Falls where we take a photo and start climbing uphill.  We were wishing this was an actual fireplace! View from the top of the hill..... We are leaving lots of space in case anyone takes a tumble Navigating over a fallen tree Crossing Hwy 403 Along the Chedoke Trail Scenic Lower Princess Falls I think this is Mountain View Waterfall? Che...
