 Niagara - Kinsmen Park (69.8km) to Glen Road Parking (56.6km)

April 6, 2023.

We head east from where we left off last week at Kinsmen Park, this time a 13.2 km hike to the roadside parking at Glen Road.

Twenty of us sign up for this hike but we had torrential rain yesterday.  Nine of us feel that there will be too much mud on the trail and cancel.  Wimps!  Eleven of us, all prone to get mud all over anyway (excepting of course Annette and Muris), choose to hike.  In the event, there is far less mud than any of us expect.  It is not as bad as last week.


Hiking are Doug (photographer and blogger), Steve K (photographer), Lesley, Steve R (photographer), Frances, Annette (this week's coordinator who still does not know how to blog), Muris (photographer), Marleen, Barbara, Sandra (sweep), and Alex (photographer and Muris's friend from Michigan).  Doug needs instruction on selfies.

Off we go .... er ... as usual, all three new coordinators (aka leaders), Annette, Barbara and Doug, lead us in the wrong direction.  Thankfully, our old-reliables, Sandra and Steve K, set us right before we go too far. So, off we go again ...

  Iroquoia Section - Crawford Lake (104.5 km) to Mount Nemo (91.0 km) - March 13, 2025. After over a month off the trail due to a seemingly endless stretch of inclement weather on consecutive Thursdays having caused frustrating cancellations, Hiking With Friends were finally rewarded with a classic late winter day to get out and enjoy our favourite walking path...and we took on a 15 km route from Crawford Lake southward to Mount Nemo with all our pent up energy (which, it turned out, was well needed to complete the journey)...and there was a nice celebration at the end to cap off a glorious outing!.. While hiking the Bruce Trail is our passion and we are seemingly quite proficient at it, our logistical organization can often be "a work in progress"...fortunately, with an experienced hike coordinator in charge, we eventually got sorted out and successfully assembled our group of 20 hikers in the parking lot at Crawford Lake to get our morning selfie shot on record...today'...

  Blue Mountain's Section - Devil's Glen (29.5 km) to Standing Rock (42.4 km) - August 8, 2025.  As Hiking With Friends has grown and prospered (more about the return on investment in "human bonds" than any monetary profit) over the last several years, there are certain routines, ceremonies, and rituals that have emerged and become part of the woven tapestry of our shared walking experience. Some days, they all come together over the course of several hours spent hiking the Bruce Trail and blend into a beautiful milieu of nature, camaraderie, and personal achievement. Our 14 km adventure this past week was just exactly "one of those days".   Twelve hikers gathered at Devil's Glen early in the morning...myself, Faryde, Rita, Georgia, Marleen, Barbara, Annette, Andrew (H.C), Andrea, Josie, Ivan, and Frank L...it's going to get warm (aaaaagain) today, so let's get the show on the road... ...or at least beside it...
