Iroquoia Section - Lewis Road (11.1 km) to Felker's Falls (22.0 km) - July 18, 2024.     Today's hike was a total of 12.6 km from the roadside parking at Lewis Road and its side-trail to the Felker's Falls' parking lot.  The day was perfect, sunny but not hot.  The trail, after the deluges on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday which had caused such widespread flooding, was much drier than we expected.  Hardly any mud.  This stage was along a bench at the same level for almost all its length.  A climb at the start to get our hearts racing, and a climb at the end, up to the parking lot at Felker's falls.  For the rest, hardly any rock-hopping or slip-sliding.  Easy-peasy! There were nine of us, Doug (HC & photographer), Geoff, Grace, Laura, Steve K. (photographer), Marleen, Rita, Frances, and Todd. Off we go.  Puffing up the climb to the main trail ... emerging at McNeilly Road ... on the trail ... we started on one side-trail and passed seven more ... Marleen has hike

This week our  11.6km  hike was in the Caledon Section hike#5, between 7th Line (43.3km) and 4th Line Hockley (54.9km) It was a tense 24 hours leading up to the hike with Tropical Storm Beryl threatening a deluge of rain and high winds.  Environment Canada updated the "heavy rainfall warning" announcement several times, extending the threat beyond our hike start time. But, after the group experience on the Peninsula with rain, there's not much will deter the HWF group from our regular weekly hike!  We agreed to stand fast, and review the weather early Thursday morning. The weather gods were on our side.... warnings were cancelled, cloudy skies, no rain, pretty good trail conditions and just a few muddy sections.     Joining the hike were Georgia, Grace, Doug, Muris, Nancy (Photographer), Barbara (HC), Marleen, Frances, Rita, Andrea, Sandra (Sweep), Ron (Photographer) A busy road walk along Airport Road! Jack in the Pulpit Seed Pod Not too muddy! Another HWF hiking adventu
