Toronto Section - Winston Churchill Blvd (42.9 km) to Caledon Hills Section - Chinguacousy Road (2.8 km) - August 29,2024.




Today's hike was a short 11 kms on a mild summer's day under a mostly light overcast.  Perfect conditions for this easy hike which includes a fair amount of road walking.

There were nine of us. From left to right, Ron (photographer and hiding shyly mostly off camera - sorry Ron - I'm still struggling with group selfies!), Steve K, Marleen, Josie (photographer), Sandra (sweep), Andrew (photographer), Nancy, Grace, and Doug (HC & photographer).

Josie completed the Toronto Section with this hike; her first section although she has been hiking with us for a few years now!  We decided to celebrate her achievement at the Toronto-Caledon clubs' boundary.  See how delighted she is.  Such a smile!

Afterwards, Andrew, Doug, Grace and Steve went to the Spirit Tree Cidery for refreshments.  We forgot to take photos but we had a nice time!!

After over a month off the trail due to a seemingly endless stretch of inclement weather on consecutive Thursdays having caused frustrating cancellations, Hiking With Friends were finally rewarded with a classic late winter day to get out and enjoy our favourite walking path...and we took on a 15 km route from Crawford Lake southward to Mount Nemo with all our pent up energy (which, it turned out, was well needed to complete the journey)...and there was a nice celebration at the end to cap off a glorious outing!.. While hiking the Bruce Trail is our passion and we are seemingly quite proficient at it, our logistical organization can often be "a work in progress"...fortunately, with an experienced hike coordinator in charge, we eventually got sorted out and successfully assembled our group of 20 hikers in the parking lot at Crawford Lake to get our morning selfie shot on record...today'...

  Blue Mountain's Section - Devil's Glen (29.5 km) to Standing Rock (42.4 km) - August 8, 2025.  As Hiking With Friends has grown and prospered (more about the return on investment in "human bonds" than any monetary profit) over the last several years, there are certain routines, ceremonies, and rituals that have emerged and become part of the woven tapestry of our shared walking experience. Some days, they all come together over the course of several hours spent hiking the Bruce Trail and blend into a beautiful milieu of nature, camaraderie, and personal achievement. Our 14 km adventure this past week was just exactly "one of those days".   Twelve hikers gathered at Devil's Glen early in the morning...myself, Faryde, Rita, Georgia, Marleen, Barbara, Annette, Andrew (H.C), Andrea, Josie, Ivan, and Frank L...it's going to get warm (aaaaagain) today, so let's get the show on the road... ...or at least beside it...
