Blue Mountain #2 - Conc 9/10 to Devil's Glen July 24, 2025


 Blue Mountain #2 from 9/10 SR(km 14.1) to Devil's Glen (km 29.5)





Our hike this week was 15.4 km in the Blue Mountain section between 9/10 Conc and Devils' Glen. Joining the hike were Ivan (Sweep), Josie, Marleen, Annette, FrankL, Ron, Barbara (HC) and Faryde.

The elusive Bobolink was spotted in a field close to the start of the hike. 
This is one happy hiker!


A large Northern Leopard Frog hops aross the trail.


The meadows were full of butterflies enjoying the sunshine.

We were grateful to have shade from the hot sun.  Although in places the ice-storm damage was evident with a significant loss to the forest canapy.

  Iroquoia Section - Crawford Lake (104.5 km) to Mount Nemo (91.0 km) - March 13, 2025. After over a month off the trail due to a seemingly endless stretch of inclement weather on consecutive Thursdays having caused frustrating cancellations, Hiking With Friends were finally rewarded with a classic late winter day to get out and enjoy our favourite walking path...and we took on a 15 km route from Crawford Lake southward to Mount Nemo with all our pent up energy (which, it turned out, was well needed to complete the journey)...and there was a nice celebration at the end to cap off a glorious outing!.. While hiking the Bruce Trail is our passion and we are seemingly quite proficient at it, our logistical organization can often be "a work in progress"...fortunately, with an experienced hike coordinator in charge, we eventually got sorted out and successfully assembled our group of 20 hikers in the parking lot at Crawford Lake to get our morning selfie shot on record...today'...

  Sydenham Section - Series #2 - June 3-5, 2025. ----------------------------------- Day One -  Blantyre (0.0 km) to 1st Concession S. (10.5 km) - June 3, 2025. A beautiful day, a modest 10.5 km hike (according to the BTC app). Even before we set off many of our hikers took no chances with mosquitoes and black flies ... from the left, Renu, Laura, Nancy, Peter, Lesley, Catherine, Faryde, and trying her best to be anonymous, Donna.
