Toronto Section - Limehouse (21.6 km) to 8th Line/27 Side Road (32.3 km) - July 31, 2025.
Hiking With Friends was found "closer to home" this past week with a relatively short hike of 10 km that commenced in beautiful downtown Limehouse and wrapped up at 27 Side Road just before 8th Line...for a lovely new couple that are regular HWF members now, it was a special day in their young quest for E2E infamy...
After a car drop at the parking area on 27 Side Road and 8th Line, we have assembled our group of 13 at the parking lot in the soon to be created Tolton Park area of picturesque Limehouse...today's hikers include myself, Josie, Frank C, Ivan, Rita, Sandra, Frank L, Faryde, Annette (H.C), Nancy, Barbara, Andrea, and Marleen...
And we are off into the woods after a short walk down Kirkpatrick Lane, and a bit of 5th Line...
After a stretch of insanely hot and humid weather, last night's rain and a shift in the wind has provided some much needed respite and conditions this morning are much more comfortable, although the air quality has deteriorated somewhat...
One of the highlights today is the chance to explore a recently opened (June) new stretch of trail that eliminates road walking on 5th Line...the 900 meters or so is within the BTC's Maple Ridge Nature Reserve and includes a spanking new bridge as well...our first HWF bridge photo on the new span!
Another feature that we will experience a lot today is slippery wooden planks...who ever gets bored while board-walking?
At the exit onto 6th Line, we capture the rare "double Frank stile smiles"...
Nice new sign...unfortunately found nowhere near its supposed location...
After crossing the real Trafalgar Road, we enter the large property of Scotsdale Farm...it's been a pretty smooth hike so far and we're not far from the finish...just a few hundred more meters of boardwalk to traverse...
The end of our hike today is in sight (well, at least when we look at our B.T app) and a special celebration awaits...
It's their inaugural honour guard experience, as Faryde and Ivan are feted for their completion of the Toronto Section! Congratulations!..We haven't had very many hiking couples in the short history of HWF, but these two have shown a dedication to, and love of, the Bruce Trail since they joined, that I am sure will eventually carry them all the way to E2E glory...thanks for letting us share our day together...
The End
Took a little wander down 8th Line post hike to check out Hickory Falls...no dickory, no dock...
