Toronto Section Hike #4 October 30 2025

 Winston Churchill 42.9km to 8th Line 32.3km


Hike #4 in the Toronto Section is 10.6k hike starting at Winston Churchill Blvd through Terra Cotta Conservation area, and finishing at 8th Line.

Eleven hikers joined the hike Georgia, Diane, Frances, Frank, Marleen, Annette, Grace, Barbara (HC), Sandra, Rita, and Doug (photos).





The trail was covered with fallen leaves but mostly dry which made for a good start to the hike.   We got our bridge picture taken early in anticipation of the forecasted rain.


Off we headed along the leafy trail taking care to traverse the hidden rocks.


Clothing adjustments shortly after we started kept us busy.











It is a perfect start to the hike.




Some stretches of the forest in Terra Cotta Conservation area the trees have dropped all their leaves and the trail was a mosaic of bright autumn colours.



The forecasted rain moves in and we don our colourful raingear and carry on!






We split up and some of the group explored the Roberts Side Trail while the others on their E2E quest travelled the Main Trail.




We were a bit soggy by the end of the hike but as you can see by the smiles we weren't too bad overall.


Not too many photos of the last section as typical of the Toronto Section we hit the rocky part of the trail and full attention was needed as it was getting slippery.

All good for a rainy hike, the group made it safely back to the shuttle cars.

Hiking With Friends' first spring series to the more northern sections of the Bruce Trail found us congregating in Collingwood this past week to enjoy three hikes, one in southernmost part of the Blue Mountains, and two more in the Beaver Valley. The conclusion of these three hikes would lead to something great, but to start with, we had to go Lavender on day one, and walk northward to the parking at 9/10 Side Road Nottawasaga...how did that go for us?...well actually, it went just "hikingly" thank you...   Iroquoia Section - Crawford Lake (104.5 km) to Mount Nemo (91.0 km) - March 13, 2025. After over a month off the trail due to a seemingly endless stretch of inclement weather on consecutive Thursdays having caused frustrating cancellations, Hiking With Friends were finally rewarded with a classic late winter day to get out and enjoy our favourite walking path...and we took on a 15 km route from Crawford Lake southward to Mount Nemo with all our pent up energy (which, it turned out, was well needed to complete the journey)...and there was a nice celebration at the end to cap off a glorious outing!.. While hiking the Bruce Trail is our passion and we are seemingly quite proficient at it, our logistical organization can often be "a work in progress"...fortunately, with an experienced hike coordinator in charge, we eventually got sorted out and successfully assembled our group of 20 hikers in the parking lot at Crawford Lake to get our morning selfie shot on record...today'...
