Iroquoia Section - Blue Side Trails - Dundas Valley - February 26, 2026

Iroquoia Section - Side Trails - Dundas Town to Tews Falls - February 26, 2026.

This week's hike was “there and back” loop that started at the BTC “World” Headquarters in Dundas and breezed along side-walks through town, then upwards along the Tews Falls Lookout Trail to the falls. Coming down we followed the George Greg  Scotty Glen Ferguson Trail and back to the BTC building to conclude this delightful 11.6km jaunt.

We were 14 hikers -  Ken*, Ron B., Doug*, Grace, Lesley*, Rita, Annette*, Frances, Steve R.(H/C), Barbara, Donna*, Catherine VdB*, Georgia and Sandra (Sweep).

A bright/sunny & cold winter day - we headed off along well cleared sidewalks-  zigzagging through the town towards the escarpment.

Proof of start at the Cheryl Duke side trail.

Slogging along the nicely cleared side-walks in Dundas towards the looming escarpment.

A vintage Ford 100 Pickup (1951) under cover seen along the route.

Stopping to put on critical icers to meet the challenges ahead.

Heading up the Tews Falls Side Trail.

Following the trail below the rail lines.

Enjoying the sunny weather and the company along the trail.

Up we go towards the Dundas Peak.

Steps, steps and more steps on this stairway to heaven....

....when we get there we know, if the stores are all closed, there is a fantastic view across the Dundas Valley at the peak.

Doug and Grace enjoying the Dundas Peak Geology

Walking the ridge-line
towards Tews Falls.

Stunning ice formation below the Tews Falls....

Donna and Catherine overlooking the Tews Falls.

Pausing to take in the scenery at Tews Falls.

Lady Hikes-A-Lot enjoying the sun at elevensies!

Coming back down from the peak along the Glen Ferguson side trail.

All smiles on our way back down past the rail road underpass &
along the old rail trail.

Emerging from the trail proper, the group pauses
to remove their icers - no  longer needed on nicely cleared side-walks.

A pit-stop at the Bruce Conservancy HQ for some swag.

A fantastic day out in the winter sun and looking forward to our
next big adventure with our colleagues from HWF.
