 Toronto Section - Limehouse (21.6 km) to Eighth Line (34.0 km) - September 3, 2026.



Hiking With Friends knows every trick in the book when it comes to enjoying the Bruce Trail and this past week, we played our cards right and spent 4 hours exploring the reconfigured, extended route between Limehouse and Eighth Line in the Toronto Section...and I'm happy to report that it certainly trumps the previous iteration...



 With a good number of our group having flown off to Scotland to enjoy the Highlands for a week, we are a smaller than usual cohort of nine for today's outing...myself, Diane, Renu, Faryde, Catherine V, Doug (H.C), Frances, Marleen, and Ivan...


















We quickly pass through a couple of blocks of the "House of Lime" and enter the woods off Fifth Line into the Springle BTC Protected Area...we are bidding to become the first HWF hikers to complete the new configuration in this area since it was recently rerouted, incorporating all new trail with some previous side trails, thus eliminating a good chunk of road walking and some other less desirable pathway...























 We are not under any contract to finish by a certain time, so the pace is steady but not rushed...and there's an "a-maize-ing" cornfield to admire as well...








 And time for an equally impressive Bridge Picture...































This new sign declares our arrival at Sixth Line in a font of enormous clarity...




























Having just traveled a short distance up Sixth Line, we are no dummies and catch the new blazes that direct us into the new 22 acre Silver Creek expansion BTC Protected Natural Area that has eliminated the previous pavement walk up to the crossing of busy and noisy Highway 7, and the less than desirable travel along that artery over to Trafalgar Road...the new route is much prettier, and has another amazing new bridge!..


























  Despite this being our first hike of September, the heat and humidity are more reminiscent of mid July...with virtually no breeze...but we play the cards we have been dealt, and while conditions may not suit us perfectly, we are perfectly suited to be where we are...
























Having traversed Highway 7, we meander through a beautiful pine forest...today's trail has sent us east, west, north and south...and we are enjoying the hike no matter what direction it takes...


















We have come over halfway on our journey and earned a well deserved refreshment break...void of any time constraints, we can linger in the cool forest for a bit and get ready to finish off the last few kilometers...
























There's a lovely little waterfall at the end of our route (Hickory Falls) and yesterday's big storm means it's running at full throttle...we can declare today an absolute success...













 And speaking of success, Renu has now successfully completed yet another section in her quest for E2E glory (she is also headed north this long weekend to add more Peninsula pieces to her BT puzzle)...congratulations! Thanks for sharing the day with us!

Caledon Hills Section:  Willoughby Road (15.9 km) to Innis Lake Road (30.8 km) - Nov. 6, 2025. Sixteen of us and a goat (more on the goat later) hiked  15 km from Willoughby Road to Innis Lake Road.   It was a coldish day.  Mixed sun and cloud, with wind that mostly came from the north, sometimes from the east, not from the forecast northwest.  Winter is coming! Off we go, leaving Willoughby Road immediately, climbing to the abandoned wind pump and the library in the bush ... . .. and into a glorious carpet of fallen leaves. Road walking on Escarpment Sideroad (lots more to come) and the Highway 10 pedestrian underpass. Back to the bush ... Back to the Escarpment Sideroad where we spot Toronto on the horiz...

  Fall Series #3 - Sydenham Section - October 7-9, 2025. --------------------------------- Day One - Lundy Road (132.5 km) to Graham's Hill Road (147.7 km) - Oct. 7, 2025. It was a dark and soggy day ... wait ... that was just the forecast. Actually, we lucked out with just a brief shower maybe half-an-hour into the hike.  Check out the 'start' photo - not a poncho among us ... Toronto Section - Winston Churchill Road (42.9 km) to 8th Line (32.3 km) - October 30, 2025.

  Toronto Section - W inston Churchill Road  (42.9 km) to 8th Line (32.3 km) - Oct. 30,2025. Hike #4 in the Toronto Section is 10.6k hike starting at Winston Churchill Blvd through Terra Cotta Conservation area, and finishing at 8th Line. Eleven hikers joined the hike Georgia, Diane, Frances, Frank, Marleen, Annette, Grace, Barbara (HC), Sandra, Rita, and Doug (photos). The trail was covered with fallen leaves but mostly dry which made for a good start to the hike.   We got our bridge picture taken early in anticipation of the forecasted rain. Off we headed along the leafy trail taking care to traverse the hidden rocks. Clothing adjustments shortly after we started kept us busy. It is a perfect start to the hike. Some stretches of the forest in Terra Cotta Conservation area the trees have dropped all their leaves and the trail was a mosaic of bright autumn colours.
