Fall Series #2: Beaver Valley Section - Sept. 23-25, 2025
HWF - Beaver Valley 2025 Fall Series Sept 23-25
First hike of the 2nd Fall Series
Sideroad 7B to Eugenia Falls
Sept 23, 2025
11 seasoned hikers made the journey to Beaver Valley for the hike on day one. Three of them will finish the section at the end of the day.

What was already a top 20 hike, has become a top 10 hike (IMHO) with the addition of the newly acquired "Eagles Summit Nature Reserve" property. This hike has vistas rivaled only by the Peninsula section.
As we near the end of Day 1 we stop for a group picture by the sole remnant of the 1907 hydro-electric project and a look at Eugenia Falls.

Second Hike of the 2nd Fall series.
Johnston Road to Sideroad 13A-
Sept 24, 2025
On day 2 of the second series a few hikers left us (perhaps they knew what was in store for us). Eight of us headed out on what would prove to be a challenging hike.

We are grateful for this sign as at least one of us seemed prepared to head in the wrong direction.
No "Lazy Loop" for this crew. It's straight up the ski hills at Beaver Valley Ski Club! Someone kindly thought to put a bench for a well deserved rest at the top.
There is no doubt that the Niagara Escarpment is "Andy's Playground" whether I'm hiking it or skiing on it!
Towards the end of this test of our endurance, we descend a rather precarious 14 step ladder.
The rain which had been threatening all day held off which was a blessing given the significant elevation change and slippery rocks and roots on this hike.

Third hike of the 2nd Fall series:
Sideroad 13A to 3rd Line
Sept 25,2025
On the final day of our three day, 2nd Fall Series one more hiker joins us for a total of 9 hikers. Andrew (HC), Catherine C, Rita, Georgia, Josie (photos), Donna, Ron, Lesley (Sweep & photos) , and Steve R.
After yesterday, today's short hike feels like a walk in the park, and the relatively level ground is a welcome reprieve.
At the bridge we stop for one more bridge picture before we leave the main trail and head towards the cars and our final pole ceremony of the series.
The End...…No not the end! HOLD THE PRESSES!
Due to a tabulation malfunction at HWF world headquarters, one hikers completion of the Beaver Valley Section was not celebrated.
Congratulations and apologies to Steve Raleigh!
We will be sure to properly celebrate Steve's accomplishment at the earliest opportunity!
As HWF continues to press northward over the next few weeks we are surrounded by reminders from nature that a change of season is upon us. These geese were seen flying south over the Beaver Valley.
