Caledon #5 - 4th Line Hockley Valley (54.9 km) to 7th Line (43.3 km) - Oct. 18, 2025. 


This week Hiking With Friends hiked in the Hockley Valley area, noted for its tall pines and sandy trail underfoot. We started at 4th Line and hiked, what felt like mostly uphill, to the 7th Line finish. We accomplished our 11.6 km hike in 4 hours, under stunningly blue skies and cool temperatures.

We descend from the Pinnacle to 5th Line, where we cross the road and climb up the other side. Luckily, there was no waste burning at the residential cum business property.

We pop out onto Airport Road where we are greeted with an amazingly blue sky....

  Blue Mountains and Beaver Valley Sections - Series #1: May 20-22, 2025.                    ----------------------------------- Day One - Blue Mountains Section - Lavender (0.0 km) to 9/10 Side Road Nottawasaga (14.1 km) - May 20, 2025. Hiking With Friends' first spring series to the more northern sections of the Bruce Trail found us congregating in Collingwood this past week to enjoy three hikes, one in southernmost part of the Blue Mountains, and two more in the Beaver Valley. The conclusion of these three hikes would lead to something great, but to start with, we had to go Lavender on day one, and walk northward to the parking at 9/10 Side Road Nottawasaga...how did that go for us?...well actually, it went just "hikingly" thank you... Our well organized and merry band has dropped some cars and headed to the "dead center" of Lavender, on the edge of town, and you probably haven't even finished your morning coffee yet...there...

  Iroquoia Section - Crawford Lake (104.5 km) to Mount Nemo (91.0 km) - March 13, 2025. After over a month off the trail due to a seemingly endless stretch of inclement weather on consecutive Thursdays having caused frustrating cancellations, Hiking With Friends were finally rewarded with a classic late winter day to get out and enjoy our favourite walking path...and we took on a 15 km route from Crawford Lake southward to Mount Nemo with all our pent up energy (which, it turned out, was well needed to complete the journey)...and there was a nice celebration at the end to cap off a glorious outing!.. While hiking the Bruce Trail is our passion and we are seemingly quite proficient at it, our logistical organization can often be "a work in progress"...fortunately, with an experienced hike coordinator in charge, we eventually got sorted out and successfully assembled our group of 20 hikers in the parking lot at Crawford Lake to get our morning selfie shot on record...today'...
