Dufferin Hi-Land Section - Lavender Hill Rd Cemetery (55/5 km) to Prince of Wales Dr. (41.7 km) - Oct. 26. 2023.

Dufferin Hi-Land Section - Lavender Hill Rd Cemetery (55.5 km) to Intersection of Prince of Wales Drive and S/R 20 (41.7 km) - Oct. 26, 2023.

Hiking With Friends visited the Dufferin 4 Section of the Bruce Trail this week. Starting from the Lavender Hill Cemetery (54.9) on Mulmer-Nattawasaga Townline we turned southward walking to the intersection of Prince of Wales Drive and Side Road 20 (40.7) for a total of 14.20 km on The Bruce.

On a rainy day 15 persons decided to join the hike - Andrew (photographer), Liz, Frank, Nancy, Andrea, Peter, Laura, Annette (H.C.), Lesley, Marleen, Ron, Steve R., Sandra (sweep), Muris, and Catherine.

We were missing a few familiar faces on the trail as some were ill and some are travelling. Hope to see you all soon.

Greeting our Friends as we organize car shuttling.

Dark skies.

Our 3 hour and 40 minute journey had a modest 296 m elevation gain. We started with a few km of road walking and then roadside walking as we followed Black Bank creek south, crossing 30 Sideroad and down to HWY 21. The threatening rain held off until around Elevensies. We stopped in Black Bank forest area and had a quick snack, but the rain started up and forced us to keep walking. The rain was a constant drizzle until the end. Parallel to Prince of Wales Rd we passed through cattle country. The kindly farmer has allowed 3 sets of double stiles for our use. Double, so that the cattle can walk a unique trail through the stiles unimpeded. Arriving at our destination, the rain paused and we were able to celebrate the 6 persons who were completing the Dufferin Section on this rainy day.

Smooth trail at the start allowed us to make good time.

       Sir Hike-a-Lot.

Here we are, all warmed up for our Iconic bridge picture!

We had a few technical bits to deal with, but no rain yet.

What goes up, must come down..

Stopped at a crossroad to wait for everyone.

The foliage is passed it's peak, but nature still amazes.

Yum... Elevensies!

It was a very warm and humid day. Later on, the heat of the day saved us from being completely disheartened in the rain.

Great picture Ron! We now have all our rain gear on....

Grrr, technical and rainy!

No cattle were injured or mistreated whilst taking these pictures.

We are certainly stylish in all our bright colours on this dull day!

Arriving at the end, the rain has paused and we can celebrate!
