 Toronto Section # 2  - Speyside (11.4) to Limehouse (21.5) - Nov. 23 2023.

Hiking With Friends visited the Toronto # 2 section of the Bruce Trail this past week for a hike of 10.1 km from Speyside to Limehouse. This is a familiar trail for many of our hikers, thru snow, mosquitos etc., but this day the weather held fair.


 Joining today are Steve R. (photographer), Lesley (H.C. and photos), Laura (photos), Sandra (sweep), Frank, Andrea, Rita, Catherine, Steve K., Marleen, Liz, Rhonda, Barbara and Peter. 



We start off road walking and then into the woods, which are dramatic in their starkness, now that all the leaves are gone. 



There are a few technical bits to navigate.

  Iroquoia Section - 12.44km from the Sydenham Road Lookout to the Grindstone Falls, 25 January 2024. Unseasonably warm weather after vicious cold the week before.  Damp but no rain.  Fog.  Perfect weather for slip-sliding away on the Bruce Trail! It was so slippery that getting out of our cars was fraught.  There were 13 of us eager to get started - from left to right and barely visible apart from me (Doug) and my nostrils were Steve R, Barbara, Lesley, Liz, Nancy, Grace, Sandra, Andrea, Rita, Josie and Frank.  Marleen was in there somewhere but hiding!  Iroqouia Section - Guelph Line (81.6) to Grindstone Falls (71.2) - April 18, 2024.      Thursday's hike was originally posted as a 10.5 km hike, and as you know most of us won't get out of bed for less than 10 km. So, luckily our hike was increased by 3.5 km due to the Dundas Street roadworks expansion.   Stats for the hike say we hiked 13.7 km., with a 250 m. gain in elevation, in 4 hrs and 15 minutes.       We assembled at roadside parking along Guelph Line in front of the stile. Joining in are Steve R. (photos and sweep), Andrew (photos), Frank, Ron B., Nancy, Andrea, Josie, Marleen, Lesley (H.C.), Rita, Laura and Peter.  Travelling to our meet point at Grindstone Falls along Mill St. meant queuing due to road works... We set off at a brisk pace and encounter one of many streams we need to cross. Thursday is bracketed in between rainy days, but we are encouraged as the trail is not too muddy and has pretty good footing... Another stream...  and another stream...   We arrive
