Iroqouia Section - Guelph Line (81.6) to Grindstone Falls (71.2) - April 18, 2024

 Iroqouia Section - Guelph Line (81.6) to Grindstone Falls (71.2) - April 18, 2024.

Thursday's hike was originally posted as a 10.5 km hike, and as you know most of us won't get out of bed for less than 10 km. So, luckily our hike was increased by 3.5 km due to the Dundas Street roadworks expansion.  Stats for the hike say we hiked 13.7 km., with a 250 m. gain in elevation, in 4 hrs and 15 minutes.

We assembled at roadside parking along Guelph Line in front of the stile. Joining in are Steve R. (photos and sweep), Andrew (photos), Frank, Ron B., Nancy, Andrea, Josie, Marleen, Lesley (H.C.), Rita, Laura and Peter.
Travelling to our meet point at Grindstone Falls along Mill St. meant queuing due to road works...

We set off at a brisk pace and encounter one of many streams we need to cross. Thursday is bracketed in between rainy days, but we are encouraged as the trail is not too muddy and has pretty good footing...

Another stream...

 and another stream...

We arrive at Fisher's Pond, but I'll be dang'ed if I can see a pond? It must be behind the earthen berm?

We continue on to the viewpoint where we sign the
logbook and admire the vista....

The group were attracted by the bee hives and got slightly off track, but we quickly regained the path!

Continuing, we quickly arrive at Cedar Springs Road and the start of our 3.5 km diversion. It's a long uneventful walk downhill on Cedar Springs Road, we take advantage and all stop at the Subway for a Bio Break.

There is lots of conversation on the hike and excitement for the Peninsular visit is high, with lots of meal planning going on....

We are quickly thru the diversion and back on the main trail, keen to have elevensies close to Kern Road...

Stopping for elevensies, we can feel the temp

dropping and few sprinkles of rain...

Trilliums soon to be in full bloom...

Different kind of bridge picture...

Smiling faces for our real bridge picture is worth
a thousand words....

We arrive back at Mill Street, almost at the end.

We arrive at the end of the hike at Grindstone Falls.

Lesley and Steve R have some serious celebrating
to do as they Tango their way to the completion of the Iroquoia Section.

The End

Grindstone Falls in full spate.
